Properly using a male condom

A condom that is used the proper way and that is combined with a good lubricant, will minimize the chance of getting infected with HIV or getting a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD).
In general, male condoms are made from a rubber called "latex". These offer the best quality.
Make sure to keep yourself to the following rules.
- Use a new condom every time you are going to have sexual intercourse
- Avoid contact between the penis and the vagina or the penis and the anus while the condom isn't on yet.
- Rip the pack open and carefully push the condom out. Make sure you don't damage the condom with sharp nails.
- Put the condom on when the penis is in an erect state. Hold the top of the condom between the thumb and the index finger and make sure that there is no air in the top. Hold the condom so that you can roll the bottom of the condom down and around the entire the penis
- After you ejaculate, immediately take the penis out of the vagina or anus.
- Make sure that you don't get any sperm on your fingers because you could infect your partner like this.
- Use a water-based lubricant that is intended for sexual intercourse. Don't use oil, Vaseline or creams because these can affect the rubber that the condom is made of.
